Our stand-alone printing systems are ideal for these applications. And if badges aren’t your identification medium, we also offer label printers (reception, logistics, archiving, etc.) and wristband printers (hospitals, leisure centers, etc.).

BADGE-EDITING SOFTWARE
If your badge management system (access control, visitor management, etc.) doesn’t allow you to generate your own identification media, Scopus offers editing software that lets you design them easily, thanks to graphic creation, personalization and encoding modules (optional), in card-by-card or batch mode, with or without connection to a dedicated or shared database.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT PRINTING TECHNIQUE
Scopus offers a wide choice of printers using different techniques
Direct sublimation
Recommended for printing “simple” ID cards or badges including logo, photo and text. For best definition, aim for a printer with a 600dpi print head.
While all printers are capable of printing several thousand cards, it’s important to consider the speed and volume of printing required before making your choice.
Retransfer
Dedicated to loyalty cards, cards with a visible chip or printouts requiring true edge-to-edge printing.
The print head is not in direct contact with the card, but a printed film (lamina) is deposited on the substrate, ensuring high-definition, offset-like rendering.
Re-registration
Useful for reception areas, requires specially treated media for monochrome blue or black personalization. The same card can be reused up to 300 times. While the initial investment may seem costly, it proves to be economical and ecological over time.
Some printers offer a combination of sublimation (with colored ribbons) and rewrite (without ribbons) techniques.

The EVOLIS® and MAGICARD® brands offer MAC and PC compatible models.
It should be noted that a badge printer, because of its PVC backing, is noisier than a paper printer. However, manufacturers are focusing more and more of their efforts on reducing cooling fan noise and on the quality of the material used for the drive rollers and gears.
RFID encoders can be added to mid/high-end printers. The
magnetic encoder can be added to most printers.
With the exception of the Zebra range, all current models can be retrofitted with an encoder. In most cases, a return to the workshop is required. We invite you to consult us to validate this type of operation.
